The story of a young monk
Once upon a time, a young man went into deep meditation deep inside a forest. His sole purpose was to gain God's satisfaction. He had no interest in material gains. The forest was full of ferocious animals but the man had no fear. After years of spiritual pursuit, God finally blessed the man and gave him a special power. 'Whatever you think will turn to reality', God said to the man.
The young man was ecstatic. He thought, “How wonderful would it be if there were a castle of gold in the middle of this jungle!” As soon as he thought of it, a castle appeared out of nowhere. The man leaped up with joy. Now he felt hungry. So he thought of numerous delicacies served in plates made of gold and silver. Just as he imagined, it all appeared instantly. So he savored all the food and leaned back comfortably on his bed made of gold.
Then he thought, “Now that I own this beautiful palace full of riches and wealth, it is all in the middle of a forest and there are tigers around. What if a tiger breaks in and eats me up?” As soon as he thought it, a giant tiger appeared and gobbled him up.
How do thoughts create reality?
This fictional story accurately portrays the reality of our situation. Our thoughts and words do not just describe our reality, they also create them.
How? The power of the brain is still beyond science’s grasp. Humans have come to know more about the extraterrestrial space than they could their own brains. Whether we use this immensely powerful tool to make our life or break our life depends on how we think.
This brain is like hardware, whose function depends on the software, the mind. Scientists have found that new information and beliefs create new dendrites in the neurons of the brain which leads to new connections through synapses. Thus new information causes the working structure of the brain to change and presents a new reality. But whether the new reality would be positive or negative depends on the nature of the programming given. Negative thoughts create negative programming which results in negative reality.
Are you trapped in Negativity?
But to move forward in life and make use of the brain's power in a positive way, one must establish faith in oneself and nurture positive thoughts.
Now, take some time to observe your own thoughts for a while.
